As the first month of the season comes to a close we wanted to take the opportunity to update everyone on what is happening with the club on and off the pitch.
The first team began their campaign with a trip to Exeter on the first weekend in May, for the first event of the inaugural South West 9’s series.
They beat both Exeter Centurions and SW newcomers Teignbridge Trojans in a day which saw the three attending clubs come together in great spirit.
The weekend following, we switched codes for one day only, and took part in the Jacob Maloy 7’s event at our new club Camborne RFC. Once again, it was a great test for our guys to get some game time ahead of our bigger fixtures, and the day was a resounding success for the club.
Most recently, this last weekend we made the trip to Newton Abbott RFC for the Teignbridge 9’s tournament. After winning all our group games we lost out to Devon Sharks in the final, through an extra time winner. Despite the disappointment it was a fantastic day of Rugby League and all clubs played very well.
Off the pitch, we are close to confirming which 8 Primary schools will battle it out at the Cornwall School Games Finals day at the end of the month, and our secondary festival is just around the corner, with more teams confirmed than last year it should be a fantastic event. Both days will be held in partnership with our friends at St Helens Community Foundation.
