Cornish Rebels Rugby League are delighted to announce an exciting new club partnership with Super League Giants St. Helens RFC.

The South West Champions and the 2014 Super League Champions will work together in many areas in the future and Chairman John Beach says the partnership is a huge day in the Cornish clubs history. “To us, the Saints are the perfect top-flight club. They do things in the correct way from player development right through to how the club is run. They have been a force in World Rugby League ever since the birth of the game when they were one of the founder clubs. The methods and values shown by everyone within the Saints set the ultimate example, and it’s one that we are keen to follow and learn from. This is a massive day for The Rebels and we can’t wait to get started working together.”

St. Helens Rugby League Development Manager Steve Leonard was full of praise for the Rebels and is excited to reach out to a club which harbours great ambition and shows great promise, “We’ve been speaking to the Rebels for a while now and we are thrilled that we can help support them in building a bright future for their club and at the same time take our club to new audiences in the South West by making the association official. It’s a partnership which we are sure will work well for both clubs in the years to come. The Rebels have put down solid foundations for the future of Rugby League in Cornwall and we are really looking forward to working with them.”

The Rebels now look forward to seeing Rugby League played in Cornish secondary schools for the very first time as they roll out the coveted Embed the Pathway curriculum resource throughout this academic year, now with the support of St. Helens.
